THE HEADER
Designed for Fun

The header was our playground. From nearly the very beginning of the new website, we saw a place where we could have fun, while also emphasizing that we are not like other businesses, even other nonprofits. Things are different at GMHCN. There is no Pantone color family. There is a set of colors from the logo that appear in most GMHCN media, but the constantly evolving logo on the header of the main page tells the whole color story: The GMHCN signature color is all of them. The rabbits shown here were not for Easter, but for Chinese New Year.

I knew that we had been successful in our adoption of the whole color palette when a colleague approached me at the memorial service for Sherry Jenkins Tucker and said "Sherry's death wasn't real to me until I went to our homepage and saw all the colors gone. It was just black and white and then it hit me, and I cried for the first time." The homepage was black and white for a week, and then it was back to our holidays, our seasons, and the calendar that stops for no one.
